About me
_
My name is Veijo Rautia and I was born in Valkeakoski Finland 1958. My enthusiasm for music and guitar playing goes back to the early 70's ; I cite CCR, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and the likes as early influences. Later, I also became interested in progressive rock and jazz. In the beginning of the 80's, the so-called New Wave bands also got my attention. A couple of recordings, few gigs, no big success, but a lot of fun anyway

I studied to be an instrument luthier in the Ikaalinen College of crafts and design from 1984 to 1986. After graduating, I made a living building mainly guitars and repairing all sorts of stringed instruments. I did my first pickup experiments in the beginning of the 1990's. A master luthier's examination in spring 2011.

I'm still interested in new ideas and have constantly tried to find ways of combining old, tried and-true ideas. Developing pickups, testing them etc is a fun, but an endlessly time-consuming pursuit. I would like to give a special thank you to my family for putting up with and understanding my occasional absence from home.

My main job during 2002 - 2012 was working for Flaxwood Guitars, which, in addition to putting food on the table, gave me a new perspective on luthierity. To build an instrument, non-traditional materials can also be used, as the most important thing is the final result: a musician's tool, an instrument which can be used to make many different kinds of music.
